MacDaily News is reporting on something most of us missed yesterday. Deep down hidden away in the iPhone How-to page is an article on cleaning your iPhone. There we find that the new iPhone 3G S has an oleophobic coating on the screen, meaning it repelles oil from your hands and face. Here’s an excerpt:
“… If your iPhone has an oleophobic coating on the screen (iPhone 3G S only), simply wipe your iPhone’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands and face.”
Sounds awesome, I know my iPhone can get streaky so if this helps I’ll be happy. You can find Apple’s full “How-to” article here.
Great idea. I wonder how long that coating lasts over use. I’d still worry about scratches on the screen though. Yes it is glass, but my buddy managed to scratch her iPod Touch in her purse.
