iPhone To Sell Early For Some?

iPhone To Sell Early For Some? Are you the one in your group of friends that has to have their technology before anyone else?

Engadget reports that Vodafone NZ will open their doors at 00:01 (12:01AM) on July 11th for the launch of the iPhone 3G. In California that would be Thursday, July 10th at 5:01PM. :)

Get your plane tickets ready for New Zealand (this could be viewed as a bad decision, seeing that you would be stuck with New Zealand’s Vodafone service, which doesn’t work in the states) to get your iPhone 3G fix before anyone else in the US and Canada…and the rest of the world for that matter.

All I can say is good luck to all those that will be waiting in line a week ahead. :P

Leaked: Australian Unlocked iPhones to Cost as Little as $699

Aussie iPhone 3G Prices

…And so the world wide speculation of 3G iPhone prices continues.

According to the most recent leak, a screenshot for a point of sales system from Australian Apple retailer Domayne, Australian unlocked iPhones could be as little as $699.

While nothing has been confirmed by Apple, Optus or Vodafone, there are a number of sources that suggest an unlocked, off-contract 3G iPhone may be available.

The Screenshots however suggest that an unlocked 3G iPhone will cost around $699.99 for the 8GB and  $999.99 for the 16GB. One thing is however certain, Australian Iphone fanatics wont have to wait much longer. With the first Official Australian Apple Store opening in Sydney within days, were all expecting the announcements of the Australian Iphone prices to be around the corner.

Huge iPhone Launch in India Planned?

iPhone Launching Soon in India?According to a local report, an upcoming launch of the iPhone in India is set to be the largest in history.

Industry sources say that the iPhone will be sold through 2.5 lakh Vodafone and Airtel retail outlets.

Note: The lakh is a unit of measurement in India… 1 lakh = 100,000… Thereforre 2.5 lakh would mean the iPhone will be available in 250,000 stores. Is that right? Correct me if I’m wrong here… Seems like an awful lot of stores, but then again there are an awful lot of people in India!

The iPhone will also be sold via Apple’s own outlets, which are obviously much fewer in number.

Pricing will apparently be set at Rs 23000, that’s roughly $542 USD by today’s current rates.

No further details were available regarding launch date, but you can bet I’ll keep my ear to the ground on this one. I wonder if this will be part of the rumored international launch I had reported on earlier?

Apple Planning Huge International Launch of iPhone 2.0?

iPhone Going World-wide?It would seem that all signs are pointing to a large international roll-out of the much ballyhooed iPhone 2.0. Why? Let me give you the skinny.

Vodafone confirmed yesterday that it has secured distribution rights for the iPhone in 10 countries… Yes, 10 countries. The countries are: India, Australia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey. I’m particularly happy for the folks in Greece… as one of my digg fans recently pointed me towards this site: www.wewantapplegreece.com. Greece is clearly ‘jonesing’ for the iPhone, as is a large majority of the world.

T-Mobile has recently confirmed that it will introduce the iPhone in Austria, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia and Latin America.

Rogers Communications in Canada also recently confirmed their intent to launch the iPhone in Canada during the 2008 calendar year. Canadians, can I get a w00t!? (pray for reasonably priced data plans)

See how everything appears to be lining up for a huge international launch? I’m glad I’m not in charge of co-ordinating such a thing. However I would think that getting carriers on board in the above countries would not be such a hard task… at least not compared to China.

*smooth segue*

China would be the next monster to tackle. According to our friends at MacRumors and AppleInsider, the latest version of iPhone Software 2.0 has handwriting recognition for Chinese.

Exciting stuff indeed. 2008 is looking more and more to be the year of iPhone Proliferation… er, the year of the International iPhone… um… well you know what I mean.

Contract-Free iPhones Available For $1,500 in Germany

Contract-Free $1,500 iPhones Available in GermanyThe iPhone is going to start selling the in Germany for 999 EUROS ($1,477) without a contract. Are you kidding me? $1,500 for an iPhone!? The catch is you can pick one up for a more respectable price of 399 euros with a two-year contract.

This has all come about after Vodafone challenged T-Mobile’s exclusive lock on the iPhone. To make things more fair (I suppose?), other carriers can now sell the iPhone without a contract for the inflated price.

Good on Vodafone for winning this ruling, but it still doesn’t make sense to me why anyone would go anywhere else other than T-Mobile to pick up their iPhone/contract… Unless they plan on hacking the phone of course.
