YES. Let me say it again… YES. As I sit here writing this post, with The Empire Strikes Back on TV (no joke) I stumbled across this new game in the App Store. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is the latest and best Star Wars game to hit the mobile scene, ever.

The game was released on the 15th, and I expect downloads of it have been going fast and furious… It’s also available on consoles as well. I just noticed a commercial for the game, imagine that!

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed it about, well… The Force. You can use it to do just about anything, and on the iPhone you can use unique touch maneuvers to do some pretty crazy things. ‘Use the Force, Mayor…’. I think I will.

Swipe, slash and hack with your finger to use your lightsaber… Or to throw objects or enemies across the screen. Special Force powers include a Grip power, Lightning power and the classic Jedi Mind Trick. Cool!

The story of the game goes something like this… You are Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice, trained by the Sith Lord to hunt down the last of the Jedi. Use your powers to make your way through the game… and make use of the exclusive ‘CellWeaver‘ feature. The game will take you on a trip across the galaxy, yet.. you are destined to become something more than Darth Vader’s servant… I wonder what that could be!? (cue tense scene-setting music).

This is a must have for any Star Wars fan. You can get it in the App Store for $9.99.

This shouldn’t come as a shock, as it is no secret that George Lucas is quite controlling of his product licensing… One might argue even more than Steve Jobs. It’s a toss up.

The only good thing that is coming of this is that THQ is apparently being quite good about this. They want to work with the developer MacBox to bring a new, official version to the App Store. Good on Lucas and THQ Wireless. Take a bad situation and turn it into a win/win…

That’s what I always love to see!
