There is a current rumor going around that Apple and AT&T are in discussions to bring an official tethering option to iPhone.
Before I go on, tethering allows someone with a laptop to connect to the internet using their cellular phone as the internet connection. As you may have heard a third party developer called Nullriver sold an app called NetShare which allowed you to tether your laptop to your iPhone. After a short time in the app store Apple pulled the application with no explanation.
One thing that should be noted is AT&T forbids tethering the iPhone but offers tethering for many other phones they sell for an extra $30/month. Steve Jobs is said to have responded to an email stating:
‘We agree, and are discussing it with ATT…’

For a little while on Thursday night, Apple made download-able what could have been the most popular iPhone App on their App Store. A program from NullRiver called Netshare. Unfortunately however this application was taken down as Apple realised that this program could create quiet a large headache for Mobile Networks everywhere.
