Namco stays true to its roots in Pole Position: Remix

You gotta be kidding me… Pole Position on the iPhone!? What a classic!

Upon checking this one out today, I was slightly impressed to say the least. The gameplay is smoother and funner than the original, but the game stays true to its roots. The graphics are similar, the turns and tracks take the same bendy roads that always fade off into the horizon. Retro gamers will love this.

There are three different control setups. Try them each to find out which one works best for you.

As you get better and win races, you unlock more tracks, cars, billboards and more. What can I say, I have a soft spot for the retro games. This one is a little pricey at $9.99… But if you loved the original, might be worth a shot. Screens and more info after the jump >

iPhone App of the Day: Ms. PAC-MAN

Ms. PAC-MAN for the iPhone and iPod Touch Vintage gamers will love this one. Ms. PAC-MAN is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch via the App Store. This classic offers all of the gaming delight that the original did, but with some extra options built-in.

Move Ms. PAC-MAN around and gobble up the dots, eat fruit and munch up the ghosts when you can…There are 256 stages built into the game for hours and hours of fun!

The game features different control options. You can use the traditional gamepad style, where you use a virtual gamepad on your device to move Ms. PAC-MAN around the screen… Or, you can use the accelerometer mode, which lets you play by leaning and rotating your device to move Ms. PAC-MAN around the screen. If you don’t like the traditional directional pad feel, the accelerometer mode could be for you.

Ms. PAC-MAN is available now in the App Store for $9.99. Worth it for the vintage/retro gamer that is feeling nostalgic.
