Microsoft Office 2008 Service Pack 2 Now Available

Microsoft has released Service Pack 2 (12.2.0) for Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. This free update touts speed increases, customer requested features, and most notably a new application.

The new app is called Microsoft Document Connection, and is meant to help users work more easily with shared files on a Microsoft SharePoint site orMicrosoft Office Live Workspace, Microsoft’s Web-based collaboration service. Microsoft Document Connection lets users skip using a web browser to access documents on the aforementioned services.

Other improvements in this service pack include stability improvements for all Office 2008 apps, alongside speed improvements. Additionally, Office Live Workspace has added support for Safari 4.

Microsoft Updates Office 2008 and Office 2004

The boys and girls of  Microsoft have been kind enough to release an update to Microsoft Office 2008. Release 12.1.2 includes stability and performance enhancements, and security fixes for Office 2008, Microsoft Updates Office 2008 and 2004Office 2008 Home and Student Edition, Office 2008 Special Media Edition,and all 2008 editions of  Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage . The download size is 160 MB is available from Microsoft’s AutoUpdate agent or direct download here. Microsoft does state you should have installed update 12.1.1 before installing 12.1.2.

In addition Microsoft updated Microsoft Office 2004 to version 11.5.1 which also security and performance fixes. This update affects Office 2004 Standard Edition, Office 2004 Student and Teacher Edition, Office 2004 Professional Edition, and all 2004 editions of  Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Entourage. This much smaller 15MB update is also available through Microsoft AutoUpdate agent or direct download here.  Microsoft does state you should have installed update 11.5.0 before installing 11.5.1.
