Fun Stuff, iPhone

While the new iPhone 3G went on sale in New Zealand, Australia and Japan over night, Auckland student Jonny, 22, had been first in line outside the Auckland store since Tuesday after being dared by friends who promised to pay for his phone if he lasted the distance in the queue. Greg Packer, aka iPhone Jonny completed his goal last night of becoming the first to get a retail-sold iPhone 3G.

“I’m going to go home, put this on charge, have a play with it and have a nice big sleep,” Gladwell told Television New Zealand after securing one of the first iPhones sold in the world.

iPhone Jonny documented his whole experience on his blog. Everything from the final hours, sleeping and even shaving are detailed. Its actually pretty interesting, check it out.

Well everyone, goodluck to all buying an iPhone today & especially to those who waited hours in line outside!! I hope all your efforts have paid off!

iPhone To Sell Early For Some? Are you the one in your group of friends that has to have their technology before anyone else?

Engadget reports that Vodafone NZ will open their doors at 00:01 (12:01AM) on July 11th for the launch of the iPhone 3G. In California that would be Thursday, July 10th at 5:01PM. :)

Get your plane tickets ready for New Zealand (this could be viewed as a bad decision, seeing that you would be stuck with New Zealand’s Vodafone service, which doesn’t work in the states) to get your iPhone 3G fix before anyone else in the US and Canada…and the rest of the world for that matter.

All I can say is good luck to all those that will be waiting in line a week ahead. :P
