Rumors, iPhone

HSBC Switching to the iPhone?

Could it be that another large corporation is moving over to the iPhone? ZDNet Australia has reported that global bank HSBC is considering dropping the BlackBerry in favor of the iPhone. If this is indeed the case, that would mean an order of 200,000 iPhones would be coming down the pipe for Apple. I hope they have production cranked up to full tilt.

One would have to agree that having a large entity such as HSBC even consider the iPhone is a big thumbs up for the new Enterprise features built into the 2.0 Firmware.

Could be a domino effect here. Once enough large organizations move over… it could trigger another, then another… But who knows. Look for RIM to battle back with the release of the BlackBerry BOLD looming large!

iPhone

The iPhone SDK is finally here. Steve Jobs announced that all third-party developers will have access to the same APIs and tools that Apple uses. Yay! Developers will be able to use ‘Cocoa Touch’, a new SDK for iPhone.

Also announced today was the arrival of iPhone to the enterprise scene. iPhone will offer full exchange support thanks to licenses from Microsoft. There will also be more enterprise features coming soon including remote wipe, certificates, identities, support for Cisco IPsec VPN and WPA2/802.11x support. Apple will also be bringing push capabilities for email, contacts and more via an upcoming software update.

Stay tuned for more updates as they come in…
