How To's, iPhone

Taking a screenshot with iPhone 2.0 FirmwareIn the iPhone 2.0 update, there are lots of cool things to find and explore. However, one of the coolest is the brand-new screenshot capability. It allows you to take a picture of what’s on your iPhone’s display at any time. This was possible via other 3rd party apps on older firmware, but now that the feature is built into the OS… it’s minty.

To take a screenshot, all you need to do is press your home button at the bottom of the iPhone, and the power button at the same time. That’s it. Note that you only need to click the buttons quickly at the same time to get this to work. You’ll know you were successful when the screen flashes white.

To view your screenshots, simply go into your photos and view your camera roll. Your new screenshots will appear there as soon as you take them.

Cool huh!?

Software, iPhone

ZiPhone Will Work on iPhone 3G and 2.0 FirmwareZiPhone, my absolute favorite iPhone jailbreaking and unlocking utility will work perfectly on the new iPhone 3G and 2.0 firmware according to the developer. A blog post on the developer’s site confirms that the handy app will support numerous networks including AT&T (of course), Rogers and Fido in Canada, T-Mobile, Claro, Vodafone and other carriers in many other countries.

As far as unlocking/jailbreaking apps go, this one is dead easy. In a few minutes you can have your iPhone unlocked, jailbroken, and ready to use… and all you need to do is click a few buttons. Couldn’t recommend it more. I’m glad to see the developers are ‘keeping up with the joneses’ by ensuring support on the new iPhone 3G and 2.0 firmware.
