iPhone

iJailbreak 0.6 Supports 1.1.4 on all iPhones and iPod TouchesAriX and Ben have just released iJailbreak 0.6. The new version of this simple jailbreaking app now features full support for the 1.1.4 firmware. It also reportedly allows you to ‘freely enable the $20 iPhone apps’. Really?

The developers over at iJailbreak are still recommending you jailbreak your phone even though the SDK is out.

iJailbreak is and has always been a free app, but the boys over there will gladly accept donations. For more info, visit iJailbreak.

P.S. Note to AriX and Ben… might be time to update the tagline at the top of your site?

iPhone

iPhone Firmware Goes to 1.1.4You couldn’t make this up! Apple seem to be toying with us now.

The new Firmware is out - you can upgrade to 1.1.4. And you’ll get… wait for it… some bug fixes!

Early reports are that they are pretty much unnoticable. No Flash. No SDK related gubbins. No nothing.

In fact, it sounds so dull that I can barely be bothered to upgrade!

Possibly the most interesting thing is that the text order has been fixed.

I am tempted to go back to making up wild stories about the impending SDK. Apparently a USB key with the new SDK has been found at Roswell…

Rumors, iPhone

iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 Coming Soon?

1.1.3 Firmware is still relatively new, however we’re already reading rumors and hearsay about the release of 1.1.4 in the near future.

This is all well and good… More important than 1.1.4 (to me at least) is the soon to be released iPhone SDK. Perhaps 1.1.4 will accompany this… But we’ll have to wait to find out for sure.

Most of the 1.1.4 speculation is revolving around 3rd party iPhone app developer Tiny Code. They’ve recently pulled their apps from installer.app due to ‘legal reasons’. Their site was also updated with this message:

“Tiny Code no longer produces fixes or applications for firmware 1.1.3. We can’t say much, but we are working with Apple and with their SDK for the next firmware release and SDK applications and we shouldn’t be missed for long. We will no longer update our Installer.app repo for legality reasons and you should see us soon on iTunes.”

Something has to be up here. As you’ll notice, the Tiny Code website now redirects to the iPhone Dev Center.
