Apple TV 2.0.1 Update

By Mr. Mayor

Apple TV 2.0.1 UpdateAll you hardcore Apple TV goers can now install an update. Apple TV 2.0.1 update has been released!

I haven’t been able to find any details on the update on the Apple site or elsewhere, so I’m assuming this update is jam-packed full of small, minor tweaks. A few things that have been noticed however… The interface seems to be cleaner and ’spiffed up’ a bit, which is a good thing… Also after updating you should notice the addition of ‘Genres’ under ‘My Movies’ which should prove helpful for most in organizing and finding the movies you are looking for.

To install the Apple TV 2.0.1 update, go to Apple TV Settings > General > Update Software. From there you will see a ’software updating’ message. After a few minutes you should be presented with the choice of updating now or later. If you update now, it will lead to a restart,4 or so Apple logo flashes, a logo with progress bar and then roughly 5 more logo flashes followed by a short Apple TV intro movie. Got that!? :)

If you have an Apple TV, I highly recommend you keep your device up-to-date. But if you were to miss this update I promise I won’t complain… it’s not a major one… Still though, seriously… update your Apple TV ok? :)

One change from the 2.01 update is that podcasts that you download directly onto your Apple TV from the Apple TV are not synced to your iPod (at least that’s what’s happened with my iPod Touch).

Correction to the previous comment – I meant to say are NOW synced to your iPod.
