Quick Note! Apple has seeded another build of Mac OS X 10.5.5. to developers. This build(9F13) fixes 10 known bugs and has no known issues.
I can’t imagine this update being too far off in the future, and should be a free update to all Mac OS X Leopard owners.

You may have heard about a fire that broke out at Apple the other day…A three alarm blaze broke out around 10 p.m. (pacific time) Tuesday and was contained around 12:30 a.m early Wednesday morning at the Valley Green Six building.
Over 60 firefighters responded to the call. The Mercury News has reported the fire may have started under a air conditioner unit of the building. The fire itself wasn’t the main cause of damage to the building but rather smoke, according to Senior Communications Dispatcher Rafael Salcedo. Hal Rooney, deputy chief of Santa Clara Country Fire Department said he could not put an estimate on the damage.

Could it be that another large corporation is moving over to the iPhone? ZDNet Australia has reported that global bank HSBC is considering dropping the BlackBerry in favor of the iPhone. If this is indeed the case, that would mean an order of 200,000 iPhones would be coming down the pipe for Apple. I hope they have production cranked up to full tilt.
One would have to agree that having a large entity such as HSBC even consider the iPhone is a big thumbs up for the new Enterprise features built into the 2.0 Firmware.
Could be a domino effect here. Once enough large organizations move over… it could trigger another, then another… But who knows. Look for RIM to battle back with the release of the BlackBerry BOLD looming large!

Apple has just recently passed Google in market value.
Last I checked, Apple’s market cap was at $158.2 Billion, while Google was sitting at $156.6 Billion. Yes, that’s right, Billion.
Two huge companies, and two huge success stories… But it is ceratainly a feather in Apple’s cap for surprassing Google in market value.
Today in the markets, Google opened up at a whopping $501.60 per share, while Apple opened at $177.98 per share. At the moment, Google is down around $4 per share, and Apple is up just over $1 with the markets about to close for the day.

Multiple reports have it that connectivity issues occurring to new iPhone 3G owners could be the result of issues with the Infineon 3G chip. Carriers were initially being blamed, while they defended themselves noting that their networks were strong and they could not find any issues on their end. Looks like they might be correct.
Nomura Securities analyst Richard Windsor noted, “We believe that these issues are typical of an immature chipset and radio protocol stack where we are almost certain Infineon is the 3G supplier.”
The horrible news about this, is if it IS a chip issue… This kind of thing can’t be fixed with a simple firmware update. Do I hear a recall in the near future!?
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this. I’ll report on the news as it comes in.

I’ve been reading more and more reports over time that many iPhone 3G users are having reception issues. Case in point, this article from Eric Savitz at Barron’s.
Dropped calls, the phone switching to EDGE while the device is not in use, and other problems have been reported. Personally I can’t believe it… Dropped calls!? Really? There’s absolutely no excuse for that. If my phone dropped calls on me… watch how fast I would switch to another device. Wouldn’t take me long.
While the article mentions is is not a US-specific problem, I have yet to hear any concerns or reception quibbles from anyone up here in Canada. Since the initial launch debacle at Rogers, all network connectivity and reception appears to be going good.
