iTunes 7.5 and Quicktime 7.3 Updates Available for Download iPhone To Launch Soon in Canada? The Evidence Has Been Removed…

Apple Remote Not Working in OS X Leopard?Strange thing occured to me this morning as I was flicking through my music… My remote was no longer working!

The thing has worked perfectly for me in the past, (and I admit, I don’t use it THAT often) but it is a nice convenience to have and I’m wondering why it simply stopped working.

Anyone else out there encounter the same problem?

I better check to see if I installed the iTunes update, perhaps there’s a fix hidden in there somewhere.

Very strange!

I can confirm that the remote is still working perfectly fine on my MacBook Pro. Better than ever actually, since Leopard has a more AppleTV-like interface when you launch Front Row.

Oh, and I haven’t yet installed the Quicktime and iTunes updates.

The remote is working fine. Only thing that springs to mind is if you paired your remote with your Mac? The new operating system might be recognised as a new machine.

Yo dude, mine isn’t working either. Does anyone have a solution to this?

    I have the same problem!

Started the iMac and the remote stopped working to control iTunes, VLC, Quicktime and so on.

It does however work (after pairing again) front row now.

I have also noticed that the 3 keys on the (new aluminimum) iMac keyboard that control the same features (i.e. forwards, backwards, play and pause) [F7 through F9] have also stopped working.

Matt, I’ve yet to pick up one of the new keyboards… That is very interesting that those keys don’t seem to work for you though! When I pick one up I’ll see if I run into the same issue.

Same problem here. Was listening to music, then lost connection to the remote (paired).

Remote works fine with my iDock so it is iMac/Leopard related

    SORTED!!!

Be careful if you have VMware Fusion installed on you Mac.

If you give your guest OS access to the Apple IR Receiver this will stop the remote from working in OS X.

got it fixed. went to system preferences>security and switched IR reciever off, then back on and paired my remote. is working great in itunes and front row now!

  9. daniel Says:

tried pairing…still won’t work… I’ve had the mac for some months, but I just took the remote out of the plastic. Still won’t pair

    TIM you are the man!

been trying to work out why my remote has stopped working for ages!! Also when VMware takes control of the RC the menu in system prefs also disappears.

    Thanks again!

Dan, Can you explain how to get VMWare to relinquish control back to the Mac? I think I’m having the same problem. Thanks!

I had the same problem. I restarted in safe mode and then restarted in normal mode. Don’t know why this worked but it did.
