iPhone App of the Day: Blue Skies Lite

On September 24, 2008, in iPhone Apps, by Mr. Mayor

When you start the game, the first level is a training level. It starts out with a conversation sequence between you and your trainer… or someone :) The conversations are reminiscent of old NES games… You read the text and the audio kind of sounds like Charlie Brown’s teacher. But that’s not important.

For a free game, this is actually a lot of fun. You use the accelerometer to control your helicopter’s speed and direction. To land, you simply hover over a landing area and tap the landing area. To fire weapons, same deal, simply tap the screen. For a preview, check out the video below:

The free version is limited, however. The full version comes with 30 levels, pick up bonuses, cash awards, an R&D lab, 3 difficulty settings and a lot more.

I like the game. The freebie is certainly worth a download. Reminds me in some ways of the old ‘1942‘ airplane shooter for the old classic systems. Remember that one?

Two thumbs up for Blue Skies Lite!
