iPhone Apps

When I saw this one I really got a kick out of it. Had to make it an App of the Day!

Baby Names from Neutrinos, LLC does just what you think it will… It provides you with a practical and up-to-date look at over 15,000 baby names. The names are derived from over 130 different origins, and each name is tagged with information on the origin and meaning of the name.

Want to make the whole process more interactive? With Baby Names you can let friends and family help you out! Share a list of your favorite names with them via the email list feature.

This is a neat little tool for those expecting a new addition to the family. Heck, why not use it to help you name pets as well? The database of names is huge, it’s easy to use… and it’s kind of fun!

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been downloading all of the baby naming applications through iTunes and this is the only one I’ve found worth actually using!

Too bad the developer of this app is accusing the developer of a competing app of ripping him off. It is disappointing to see that, and it has no place in this fledgling industry. I am amazed at the bad mouthing. There is plenty of room for more than one of the same type of app. Just look at all the tip calculators.

I agree with both the above comments. It is a good app but the developer has been unfairly criticizing the other application – Name that baby. The other app is just as good as this one and there’s no need for that type of behavior from Neutrinos, LLC. It’s pretty petty really and unprofessional to say the least. It’s very off-putting to me and I probably wouldn’t buy any of their other applications now because of this.

Its funny how people always get in arguments in the comments of articles. Anyway, I just bought this application and so far so good!

  5. Alex says:

I don’t know what the drama is about, but this is the better application. The other has awkward looking GUI and the name list is smaller. This application has over 15,000 unique names, the other doesn’t even say how many it has.

Actually have any of you used NameShake? It’s half the price and has much better name info. I like it waaaaay better.
