Reports from the Mac Observer tell us that there are possible design flaws in some Seagate hard drives found in MacBooks and MacBook Pros that could lead to huge data loss.
Model numbers affected include ST96812As and ST98823AS.
Our advice… Check your drive models against the numbers above, and make sure your daily Time Machine backup is in place
