Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us here at Mactropolis!

True, today is the day flower shops mark up their inventory 300%, and it’s almost impossible to get that reservation at that restaurant you really like… But what’s most important is you spend the day with those that you love.

Today also marks the end of all the red and pink devices that have been launching recently. Anyone else notice how not only Apple, but RIM and other device manufacturers were really pushing the valentine’s themed devices this year!? Seems to get bigger every year!

But I digress. Enjoy the day

As promised, expansion here at Mactropolis is coming fast and furious

Our new forums are almost ready for launch. We’re doing some tweaking, testing, all sorts of good stuff to make sure they are ready to go

You’ll want to stay tuned because I have a super-dooper contest that will launch to coincide with the launch of our forums. In an interesting article written by Lev Grossman of TIME, he explains why the iPhone has won their ‘Invention of the Year’. He lays out the 5 main reasons the iPhone won this accolade:

1. The iPhone is pretty
2. It’s touchy-feely
3. It will make other phones better
4. It’s not a phone, it’s a platform
5. It is the ghost of iPhones to come…

An interesting read indeed. I can think of a few more reasons myself, but these 5 reasons will do for now.

With this blog entry, Mactropolis.com is officially founded and open for business! We’re accepting new ‘citizens’, so join us and come on in!

Our goal here at Mactropolis is to build a truly unique and global community of mac experts and enthusiasts. For now, the site will include the latest news, commentary and more here on our homepage, but the city expansion will start soon.

In the near future we’ll be adding community forums… So that you can get help or advice with any mac related issue. Plus, you’re bound to make some new friends here as well… We guarantee it!

There will also be a store, where at first we’re going to sell all kinds of iPhone gear from the latest software to groovy accessories… And down the road we’re going to be adding a full-on mac store in partnership with Apple.

There’s going to be LOTS going on here so I urge you to become a citizen and register as soon as you can!
