Well, I’ve updated the Apple TV software and first impressions are good.
As well as the much publicized movie rentals, I like the way Apple TV lists downloaded shows by the show’s title and has sub-headings by season.
The unit now supports Airtunes so you can now treat your Apple TV as an Airport Express and stream music to it from your computer in sync. Nice.
Please feel free to post a comment in the Mactropolis Forums with your experiences of the upgrade. For instance, is the HD rental option a winner for you?

The Airtunes feature seems nice. I already have an Airport Express that satisfies my audio streaming needs, however it frequently drops when its on WiFi. I find that the only way to be happy with the streaming is if I hard wire the AE to my router. The moment I put it on WiFi only, I generally can only get 10 minutes of unbuffered/undropped listening before it constantly drops its connection.
How is the AppleTV in this respect?
also, Have you tried the Flickr Photo streaming? And if so, how does it (if at all) work with private Flickr photo albums?

The tests I’ve done on Airtunes (listening to podcasts) works perfectly. I do have 802.11n though, while the Airport Express is not 802.11n.
I don’t use Flickr so can’t comment on that.
